Been up all night working on this design, been stuck in my head for a while!

I designed Rwar (the purple monster) back in 2004 (seems so long ago) and really like him, so im going to try do some more stuff with him :D

Probably a 3 colour screenprint, Metallic gold (blingbling!) Black and White. Using the purple shirt colour for his skintone :D

What do you guys think? comments? i'll probably do a run of 50 shirts or something :D

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well!

Sorry for the lack of blog updates, been busy with work. I decided to plunge into the worlds of Freelancing fulltime, been working on building a website, doing some brochures, and the odd Doodlin' inbetween. Fun times to be had :)

I picked up a new laptop (my bank balance is now empty, haha!) so i could be more mobile, as i currently have to catch 3 buses + walk 20 mins just to get into work. Yay go new shiny things!

Also Dual screened my iMac at home :) why? i dunno. my friend had his computer dual screen'd, and he's awesomesauce, so i wanted to be awesomesauce too! *hi Mat with 1 t* :D

So, like, Tomorrow (wednesday) I'm going into hospital to have eye surgery, a procedure called "Bilateral Squint Surgery" It's not a major operation but it will fix my double vision and headaches (hopefully) ^_^ So i'll see you in about a week when my eyes are healed :D

So, like, on Saturday my gf and I went to a 1 day espresso course at a community college, it was fun! It's SOOO hard to make the perfect shot :S as you can see from the pictures below

My first attempt :D

first attempt FAILED. was so gross lol.

I had 1 more attempt after that but it tasted the same hah.sour and under exposed. gross!
I got a fancy certificate saying i have completed the beginner course, so yay :D
now i need to save up for an espresso machine of my own so i can practise hehe :)

I also got recommended a movie called "Black Gold". It's about the Ethiopian Coffee bean industry.. If you're a coffee drinker, i highly recommend this movie (Fair trade coffee all the way!)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, and is having/recovering from a rad New Years hehe :) Me? I just stayed at home, still can't go out and about too much, though my hole in my tummy is getting smaller! (I may post progression pics of my wound if anyone is keen :P)

On another note, whilst i have too much time on my hands, i've been doing alot of reading as of late, and on my daily blog reading adventures, i came across Jeremy Fish's studio visit on Fecal Face (one very cool blog)

I LOVE seeing other people's studio's. It's like getting inside other peoples heads :P I'm loving his new body of work, especially the cut out pieces (so awesome)
And how cool is that big wall mural he's working on. O_O

Another stint in hospital :(

I had another stint in hospital over the weekend, my awesome infected wound decided to play up again and i got mad pains in my tummy! Was back in hospital for 3 days, was kinda worried id be stuck in there for xmas :( but everything kinda cleared up and im back at home, with new painkillers and new anti biotics!
(i thought the instuctions for my new antibiotics were funny, read the last line)

*so.. what. im gonna go orange and explode if i have too much sunlight? hehehe :)*

They took out my icky staples from my tummy (all 29 of them) but some parts didnt heal, so ive got like a golfball sized hole in my tummy, which gets packed with absorbant stuff everyday. it creeps me out everytime i see this huge hole in my tummy. I feel like playing Operation (the board game) everytime i gotta remove my own dressing haha :) I dont think ill post pics though. its too ewwwwwwwwwww!

Hey All!

Sorry for the lack of updates / being absent from the webs *not intentional, not, like, trying to avoid you all or anything! cept for u in the third row. ur breath smells -_-*

I got back into New Zealand from the States last Saturday (6th Dec) and took my time unpacking and stuff (room = bombsite). Whilst in America i developed a small pain, kinda like a stitch but it only hurt when i moved rapidly (funnily, i first felt this pain at Disneyland. hoho) I didnt think too much of it so I put off seeing the Doctor till the following Monday i got back (8th Dec). He said it was a slightly inflammed Appendix. After a ultrascan, i soon found myself in the A & E department at hospital, as they decided to take out my appendix just as a precaution.

So the operation was planned to be 1 hour, with about 3 days recovery time. When the surgeons cut me open, they had found the appendix had already burst, was all oozy and a crap load of puss. My wee appendix had also perferated along the joins of my small bowels too, so they ended up taking some of my small bowel out along with my bung appendix.

all and all, a 1 hour operation with low risk turned into a 4 hour operation, which i was very lucky to swing my way. I was lucky it hadn't gone Septic, was lucky puss and crap seemed to not spread too much. I ended up being in the hospital for over a week! (not fun!)

So now im home, with 5 different painkillers to keep me going, hunched like a old man (as my stomach muscles had been cut vertically. hmmm), a narly wound, 25 staples and 4 exit sites for my puss to come out (they snipped off 4 staples at each corner, and everyday use metal prongs to stuff asorbant paper into my wound to absorb puss and crap.. kinda one of those things where u know u should be looking away but you're always staring at them doing the dressing going "AHHH AHHH AHHH".

My painkillers are wearing off, off to grab more. till next time :)

I had my first Thanksgiving dinner last Thursday in San Fransisco. It was pretty awesome. apart from the fact that i got Food Poisoning from the Turkey (which apparently was uncooked...) (that and the copious amount of red wine didn't help, haha!)

Thanksgiving Food poisoning on Thursday in San Fransisco + 8 hour car ride back to LA whilst still very food poisony the next day= not a very happy Richard..

heres a few (by few i mean 5 cos im lazy) snaps. ill post more later :)

The Cow Killing fields. On the way to San Fransisco from LA we past a huge area where thousands and thousands of cows were.. well. just waiting for the slaughter house. It was kinda sad, and very very very smelly :(

On a happier note, i found my Yellow brother from another mother! He just farted, it wasn't nice. so i wrinkled my face in disgust.

Crazy huh? I took this outside my great Uncles house in OC, near the forest fires that ravaged south CA over the weekend. You could feel the heat, it was really hot and dry! and it was raining Ash for two days!

On a brighter note, i've been shopping lots (poor wallet, and poor exchange rate, $1 nzd = .53 us cents *cries*) and hanging out with family lots :)

Sorry for not looking after you my wee blog :D I've been laz.. I mean busy! yeah! thats right! busy! *cough*

Anyways, i'm frantically packing/procrastinating as i'm flying out to the States later this evening :) I've brought some stuff to upload and blog about from the past few months of work ive been creating (kinda ironic that im going to be bringing my files across to the other side of the world just to blog about them from there when i could of just blogged from NZ if i had not been so laz.. Kraftbomb '08 Recap!

The past Sunday i went down to Kraftbomb ,which i had a small stall :) It was very wet and miserable when we got there but the weather cleared up :)

Umm.. had a mishap and ate my finger by accident :P:P

My GF's favourite stand, Violet and May (i think!) They did these rad collars :) i purchased my gf one cos it was rad!

I was very sleepy after (probably the coffee and sugar wore off. and the many late nights) but alas, i had a rad time and met lotsa ppl :) I really wish i wandered around more and took more photos (Geek freeks (awesome)had awesome stuffs!, so did Miss Cutee, Becky and Frank (you guys are awesome) and Benita's stuff (doh! dont remember what you called your table haha.).
I wont be at next months Kraftbomb (Nov 30th. Mark your diaries ppl!) as i'll be in the states :( but if things go well, my gf will be looking after my stall for me :)

The size fits fine (was a bit fiddly to cut! esp. the speaker holes hehe)

But the stuff i printed it on wasn't so good (gotta find some other kind of material).

Last Sunday my GF and I headed out to our first Kraftbomb show in Grey Lynn, Auckland. On the way we had a huge hunger pang for Cheesecake (as you do, haha!) so first stop. Cheesecake Shop!

We brought a Cookies and Cream Cheesecake and some White Chocolate Mudcake.

They plan to have Kraftbomb on the last Sunday of each month, and apparently Octobers gonna be bigger! I've emailed the organisers hoping for a spot this month, *crosses fingers*

"Homicide inquiry launched after inner-city stabbing

Police have launched a homicide inquiry after a man was stabbed to death in the Auckland CBD this evening.

Detective Senior Sergeant Gerry Whitley confirmed that police will begin a murder investigation after the incident, which left the 45-year-old businessman dead.

The 45-year-old man, who was carrying a briefcase, was stabbed around 5:30 pm outside the Stamford Plaza Hotel in central Auckland.

DSS Whitley said he died at the scene after efforts by emergency workers failed.

The man reportedly staggered, covered in blood, to nearby construction workers asking for their help before a doctor who was passing by gave him medical attention.

Family members of the slain man arrived at the scene and one man tried to run past police barriers to see the body. He broke down in tears when he was stopped by Police officers.

Police are investigating whether an earlier incident involving an argument with a woman, who was slapped, was related to the stabbing.

An injured woman was found at the Stamford Plaza after police followed a trail of blood drops.

Dozens of bystanders watched as St John paramedic staff performed CPR on the slain man following the attack.

They stood shocked as the emergency workers' efforts failed and the man was covered with a white sheet.

Police cordons were placed on the corner of Albert Street and Mills Lane, with further cordons set up at the Mills Lane and Queen Street intersection.

The New Zealand Herald backs onto Mills Lane, and police initially stopped traffic leaving the building's carpark and took details from some staff.

Foot traffic in the area has also been halted.

One witness said he saw a man running from Queen Street up Vulcan Lane.

He said he did not know what had happened, but when he saw the police cars feared the man had been acting suspiciously and gave a statement to police.

Reports of an arrest near the scene were incorrect, police said.
